Frequently Asked Questions:
Prospective Students:
Q) Do I need to be accepted into the Engineering Management Program in order to take classes?
A) No, you can take classes at any time as long as you satisfy the prerequisites of the particular class. You will need to register as a non-degree seeking students. Some students are uncertain of their desires and will take one or two classes first and then decide to be admitted into the program. Keep in mind, however, that this action may limit your options later in your degree program. Contact the Engineering Management Student Advisor for more information.
Q) If I don’t live near one of the UI campuses, can I still take classes?
A) Yes. In fact, most EM students do not even live in Idaho! You may take all of your classes (with the exception of the masters project) at a distance through our Engineering Outreach (EO) Program. Your masters project is conducted one-on-one with UI faculty via email and telephone and does not use DVD's from our EO program. You may also take some of your classes through EO and some live at one of the UI campuses. It depends what is being offered each semester. You may also transfer courses from other universities with your advisor’s permission and following UI policies for transfer courses.
