Full/Part Time Students

Students may pursue a degree in engineering management on a part time or full time basis. A student is considered full time if registered for 8 or more credits during the semester. In general, part-time students will take one or two classes during a semester while full time students will take three or four.

Part-Time Students:

Most students in the UI Engineering Management Program are part time. That is, they are taking one or two classes during a semester. At this rate the student can anticipate graduating in three to five years. This program is ideally suited to the student who has a full-time job while earning their degree. One characteristic of the UI program is that students can obtain all of their courses through distance delivery via our Engineering Outreach Program. So a student can be located anywhere in the world and still pursue their degree.

Full-Time Students:

Some students wish to pursue the degree full time and complete their requirements faster. In this situation it is best, though not necessary, for the student to attend at a UI facility in Moscow, Boise, or Idaho Falls. There are a limited number of graduate assistantships (GA) available to full-time students. The GA pays the student a stipend of about $6,000 per semester plus their fees, out-of-state tuition (if applicable), and health insurance. Interested students should contact the program for more information. The typical full-time student takes three classes per term along with their GA duties. The full-time student will take most of their classes live and some of their classes at a distance, depending on schedule and interests.
