Congratulations to Dr. Larry Stauffer, Director of the Engineering Management Program, and Eric Matson, former graduate student and Commander with the Indian Health Service, who were presented with the Merritt Williamson Best Conference Paper Award for their paper submission at the 29th Annual Conference of the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) at West Point, NY, November 2008.
Their paper, “Developing a Standardized Utility Assessment Tool Using Six Sigma Principles”, describes an innovative approach resulting in a common utility assessment tool for use by both the Indian Health Service and the Environmental Protection Agency. The Best Paper Award, named after one of the founding members of ASEM, is awarded based on the presentation given at the conference, the importance of the subject matter to the field of engineering management, and the applicability of the findings to a broad audience.
